Event Details
In late 2017, a small group of committed people began planning for the new organisation. A public meeting was held in November to ascertain interest, at which forty-five people were in attendance. An interim management team was formed. Its members were Jenny Rossiter (Chair), Elisabeth Kerby-Eaton (Treasurer), Sheena Gray(Secretary), Fiona Wald, Teresa Pizzino, Anneke Hoffman, Kristina Barnett, Sue Harrington, Alison De Backer, Jackie and Kevin Holloway, and Jenny Smith.
In February 2018, U3A Prospect opened its doors with 40 members and a program operating 2 days per week, at the Prospect RSL Hall, Willcox Avenue, Prospect.
Due to the rapid success of the organisation U3A Prospect expanded its program to 4 days per week and moved to two new venues – the North Adelaide Croquet Rooms, in Prospect, and the Broadview Uniting Church Hall, Broadview. By the end of 2019, we had over 200 members the majority of whom were from the inner northern metro area.
In 2019, the Organisation acquired My U3A, a database system tailor-made for U3A groups. U3A Prospect was the first group in South Australia to go online.
Finding a single venue within the Prospect area that met all of our needs was problematic, so a move was mooted to the Enfield Community Centre, 540 Regency Rd, Enfield. The Committee decided to change the name to U3A Inner North to reflect the new location and the area in which most members resided.
Then came the COVID pandemic. Eventually, in early October 2020, activities re-commenced for Term 4 at the Enfield Community Centre, albeit with a modified program.
